MVS - Machine Vision Solutions
These challenges addressed include improving quality; increasing efficiency; managing costs; reducing
scrap; decreasing downtime; and boosting capacity.
Machine vision is an electronic alternative to human or manual inspection that benefits companies in all aspects of quality assurance by identifying and eliminating defective products reliably. This involves a camera taking a digital image of a designated object for further processing. In essence, it replaces the human eye with 100 percent accuracy, 100 percent of the time. Cameras can measure down to a tenth of a pixel, take precise measurements, sort by miniscule colour variations or by object shape and perform optical character recognition, bar code recognition to name a few - all at speeds that easily outpace most assembly line inspection rates. The deployment of a Machine Vision System is the first
positive step forward by any manufacturer that is seriously committed to quality, efficiency and production cost
reduction with the view of increasing profits.
There are immediate and long term benefits to be gained in areas such as:
ScanTrack has a dedicated laboratory for offsite research. This is where feasibility tests on the proposed solution are conducted before any onsite pilot testing is performed. This ensures that the customers daily production operations are not affected and that the solution required by the customer and proposed by ScanTrack will work in a production environment. The facility allows ScanTrack to research new solutions and ensure that any challenges put forward by the customer can be simulated, tested, checked and the results documented in a technical report for the customers perusal. Thus when a customer is in a position to go with a solution, it is with 20/20 vision knowing the solution will work. Where to Use Vision Systems?Machine Vision Systems are not restricted to any particular industry sector. Solutions have been deployed in most industries from motor manufacturing and FMCG to pharmaceutical and mining. Candidates for Machine Vision Systems or automation technology are those companies that have processes that are currently
manual, labor intensive, time consuming and expensive yet critical to
